HVDC is a backbone technology for a sustainable future, it utilizes converters to efficiently transmit power from large offshore wind parks to the onshore electrical grid. We are looking for people who are excited to work in HVDC technology, become part of our team and make a real difference to the global energy transition.
As a controls engineer in an HVDC project, you will be involved in multiple topics over the duration of the project, starting with the design specification for the control system and the parametrization of the interfaces from the control system to other systems. You will continue with the implementation and verification of the control logic in MATLAB/SIMULINK according to customer requirements. Finally, you will be involved in loading the compiled control software onto the target hardware and performing tests on the hardware in the loop setup to verify the final performance. Your area of responsibility will be the higher-level controls of the HVDC system, although an understanding of the converter-level controls is beneficial.
How You'll Make an Impact

Design and implement open- and closed-loop control systems for HVDC Converter Systems
Implementation of control software in MATLAB/SIMULINK as well as verification using software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test environments
Contribute to the clarification of technical requirements within project teams as well as with customers
Work with a close-knit team on a successful project development

What You Bring

University degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering or similar and preferably at least two years professional experience
Very good MATLAB/SIMULINK knowledge including modelling and verification
Experience with developing controls systems, preferably in a power systems context and knowledge of MMC converter technology as well as open- and closed-loop controls and
Eagerness to work in a team, to learn, and to contribute to the energy transition
Experience in the configuration of automation systems is an advantage
Very good English language skills, German language skills are an advantage
