
The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is looking to appoint an outstanding individual to a
within the Faculty of Natural Sciences III, Institute of Computer Science. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
We are looking for an outstanding personality with a broad range of experience in the field of cybersecurity in research and teaching. The research focus of the professorship will be on the development of secure software and secure software systems with special emphasis on the human factor and the approach of IT security by design. A focus on IT security in the public sector and in the health care system is particularly desirable. The prerequisites are internationally high-ranking publications and extensive experience in the recruitment and management of externally funded research projects.
Willingness to cooperate with the Federal Agency for Innovation in Cybersecurity is expected, based in Halle. A leading role is to be undertaken in setting up a research network on information and cybersecurity within the Halle-Jena-Leipzig University Alliance and expanding the Saxony-Anhalt Cybersecurity Network. Due to the focus of the professorship on the interaction of information security and human behaviour as well as on humans as objects of information technology applications, the willingness to cooperate is expected with relevant disciplines such as psychology, economics, law, ethics, medicine, and medical physics.
The professorship should make an active contribution to the profile areas ‘(Digital) Transformation’ and ‘Sustainability’ at Martin Luther University.
Relevant teaching experience in the field of IT security is required. The establishment of this professorship is intended to establish a specialisation in IT security in the Master's programme in Computer Science. Participation in the basic lectures of the Bachelor's programme in Computer Science is expected.
Further duties and responsibilities are stipulated in section 34 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities. Applicants need to fulfill the pre-conditions of appointment as stipulated in section 35 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities. Particular emphasis is placed on a Habilitation in the relevant field, or an equivalent level of scientific achievement and recognition. Candidates are expected to have attained the appropriate level of experience or qualification in teaching.
